Dairy Cow Cycle
Calves (0 to 90 Days)
The first and the most important stage in animal life will be built on this stage that starts from birth then colostrum feeding up to weaning at 90-100 days of age. A baby cow is called a calf. and a male a bull calf. Both baby male and female cattle are referred to as calves.
Heifers (3 to 18 Months)
A female calf is sometimes called a heifer calf, Immature female cows are called heifer through its life stage starting from weaning up to its first calving. Heifers need good management and nutritional programs that prepare them for good milking seasons.
Primiparous (1st Calving to 2nd Calving)
A young female cow that is pregnant for the first time and through their first milking season, they need growth, fetus and milking requirements.
